About Us
Who are we?
It’s true! Decker’s first started in the automotive business as a wrecker. The early days of buying vehicles had one major flaw; buying or replacing worn parts. Peter Decker bought land on what is now Grimmer and Kingsway. He placed himself right behind the new dealership that had just opened in town. After a vehicle became disabled he was first on the auction block to obtain the rights to them. Just as,the auto parts industry began forming, Peter was a pioneer of his time, offering salvage parts at a discount rate his business began booming.
1978 came around and Decker’s Auto Parts was born, lead by Wayne Decker. Leaving the wrecking yard behind, Decker’s became a household name in the auto parts industry opening over 5 stores in the lower mainland alone. Changing the way the parts business was run, they showed a perfect example of what the public needed from aftermarket parts suppliers and installers. Holding multiple seminars and training sessions, the automotive parts business would forever be revolutionized.
Fast forward to 1998 Decker’s Brake and Auto center is born. Now, Leaving the parts business behind Wayne and his team of technicians began they’re journey to what is now a namesake in Burnaby. Offering a no frills and no gimmicks attitude, the drivers of the area surrounded his bay doors. After only a few years, Grimmer street had been re-zoned to a residential area and the dealership across the street long gone. Decker’s moved a few blocks east on Gilley Ave. Although the team has changed from what some people may have remembered it as, the owner has been ever present. With now over 40+ years in the automotive business, Wayne is sharing his knowledge with his technicians who will always strive to give their honest and best service possible.
